Bangkok is one of the largest city in the world for food, is everywhere! You can pick up food from street vendors, small family-run restaurants, mid-range restaurant chains in shopping malls, international cuisine, fast food and restaurants with Michelin stars.
If you are Pad Thai, chicken and rice, pizza, curry or burger Zinger ... Bangkok has it all!
A lot of people I know back from Bangkok said that the food is not cheap, as they had expected. When I ask if it's the usual answer, eating, oh, at the hotel bar. You can pay then the opportunities for food in Bangkok if you want, when you prepare the research and, perhaps, in the family restaurant eat more clearly trying to find the legendary flavor and very inexpensive Thai cuisine.
Here and try to find a vision of the nature of what we can expect, in Bangkok, along with some personal recommendations.
Street vendors> Food
It 'a bit' cliche, but it is true that the best food in Bangkok is street food vendors. Certainly, the area is less healthy, but just love the atmosphere and the feeling of eating on the side of a busy road, sitting on a plastic chair! You can find this set-up throughout the city, usually a group of people with their own specialties with their own car. Most common dishes are chicken and rice (Khao Man Gai), pork red rice(Khao Daeng muu), Pad Thai, many different types of noodle soups and curries. Just be adventurous, and if you're not sure with the language, you can always rely on what you want! They always have a glass of Thai-style frosty milkshake in hand, when something unexpectedly strong! I always thought that milk is much better than water for cooling the mouth.
Good advice from a local, if you're unsure, choose the provider that is here to represent the more frequent. This means, in general, the food is tasty andsure. I never had problems eating street food.
Other items for sale include various grilled meats on a stick and portions of fruit. My personal favorites are the various vendors that line the wall Lumpini Park in the evening in the parking lot along Ratchadamri Road. The stands of Patpong / Silom area are also very popular.
Thai Family Restaurant
The Thai family restaurant is something to learn many foreigners before. A lot of people are deterred fromThe smooth appearance of these places are also quite difficult to detect, and many people simply do not know that there are. At a glance, the house can be left open, as someone with a vision of the doors shut. Look closer and you can see the old aunt or grandmother of the family cook pasta or cut the chicken up to the front of the store to see! The furniture is usually very simple, thin metal tables, plastic chairs and bare walls. The decorations are only houses of spirit with the daily provision of Fanta andPortraits of past and present royal family hanging on the walls.
The food is not of this world and always at a reasonable price. The choice of the menu is naturally much wider than the street vendors. Always in search of fish dishes, some hot extra! Yam Mun Sen (spicy seafood salad) and pasta is also a personal favorite.
A good choice in terms of position and Lek seafood, not far from Chong Nonsi Skytrain Station.
ChainRestaurants
There are lots of good quality and fair prices, chain restaurants around Bangkok, usually in shopping malls and supermarkets are located. The following are the most important:
Bar BQ Plaza - My personal favorite, I eat here every visit! In essence, you are equipped with mini-grill heated gas at the center of the table, which also has a small moat of dense water on the outside. You order plates of meat and vegetables and cooking / cook it yourself. You will receive a certainIt may be, lime, garlic and chilli, which mix to adapt.
Daidomon - in allusion to the Bar BQ Plaza, except that in reality have a small grid appears in your spreadsheet!
Fuji - a popular chain of Japanese restaurants, which offer all the usual sushi, gyoza, tempura, curry and much more.
Oishi - Another big favorite with Thai. There are many variations on the theme, but is basically pay a buffet restaurant, Japanese style, price, andeat anything you want. The greatest service sushi, Teppanyaki (on request), food and various food products in China, which are rotated.
See Fah - serves a good selection of Thai cuisine.
Sizzler - arrive early, because these places are filling up fast! Thais and popular with tourists, this is a fill-American steak house ya-face with a broad menu, western and unlimited salad bar. It could seriously obese if you eat every day here!
MK - a notion similar to the Plaza Bar BQ,but we all cook their own food. They serve hot spots from the menu, the duck is a favorite.
Pizza Company - Despite its name, this is a pizza chain in Thailand, but sell all seasonings favorite pizza, bread, garlic, etc. similar to the standard Pizza Hut pizza and a little 'too expensive, but it is a good filling If you set a pizza!
I'm sure there are more, I lost, but this concerns the most important decisions!
International Food
There are manyItalian, French, British, American, Indian etc etc restaurants around Bangkok and I will not try to categorize here! Wherever you stay, you will most likely still some in your area. The main objective of European food law is around the bottom of Silom and Sukhumvit areas. Great Japanese cuisine is the Soi Thaniya (Little Tokyo) directly available Silom (near Pat Pong). This is also a great people to observe on the spot for an hour in one of those Japanese restaurants andYou're an endless procession of Japanese executives come and go, in some groups, some alone. Some read newspapers, read some comics (!!). All stuck with a cell phone or iPhone back to their ears!
Arabic and Indian cuisine is about Ploen Chit and Nana BTS Skytrain stations and plenty of surround-Suns. I like Mr Balbir Indian restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 11 / 1 (Nana Skytrain station). For a cracking pizza, try Pizza in Bangkok Sukhumvit Soi 26 / 1.
Fast Food
YouCan the fix of KFC, McDonald's and Burger King in the city of Bangkok .... Get Enough said!
Luxury Restaurants
If you fancy a splurge on fancy restaurants there are many to choose from. For the location, try the beginning of Vertigo Banyan Tree Hotel on Sathon Road (weather permitting, of course!).
Baan Khanate (off Sukhumvit Soi 23) is an award winning Thai restaurant and La Normandie in the Oriental Hotel offers great food and a magnificent view over the Chao PhrayaRiver.
There are many, many more, but of course I have to save before I can afford another visit!
Bad food experiences in Bangkok are rare, but be adventurous and not just for the option of hotel room service determined to go out and explore what is happening in your area. If you have any tips for this list, please let me know and I'll be happy to add your contribution to my list.
